BEDLINOG 8pts. DOWLAIS 15 pts. 29/01/22

Bedlinog dominated the first half but were kept at bay by a very committed Dowlais defence. But the first incursion in to the Bedlinog 22 resulted in a penalty for Dowlais by Nathan Pritchard. Bedlinog quickly replied with a penalty by Ben Grzesica to make the scores level at half time.

The second half saw Dowlais running the ball at every opportunity, from one break the pass went down which was quickly pounced upon and Bedlinog raced away for a try against the run of play.

Dowlais were now getting on top and making a mess of the home line out with Luke Evans and Morgan Thomas pinching most of the Bedlinog throws. The back row of Luke Price, Tom Ayling and Ben Rutter were dominant in their tackling and jackling . The front row of Jonny Sutton, Kyle Prosser and Rhodri Martin never took a backward step, and the introduction of new signing James Howe made sure the scrum was solid.A sweeping move started by Darryl Jenkins saw good support from centres Tom Griffin and Morgan Powell and Ceri Morgan picking a good line to receive the pass and go over to equalise the scores. This gave Dowlais confidence to use the ball at every opportunity, and there were good breaks from wings Luke Dudley and Will Thomas. Dowlais now sensed that they had the upper hand and wanted the win more than the home side. With the Dowlais pack now dominant and being camped in the home 22 a try had to come and it came when Luke Price was driven over the line with rest of his pack and the backs in support to take the lead Nathan Pritchard added the conversion and Dowlais the lead 15-8.

The jubilation by the Dowlais players when the whistle went showed how much this victory meant to the players and the Club for this rare win down in Bedlinog.
