Dowlais took the lead with a drop goal by Connor Murphy, but that was as good as it was to get.

Dowlais defended well , and got into the home sides 22 on several occasions but the ever present penalty count kicked in every time and Dowlais were unable maintain any pressure on the home defence.

Dowlais held Brynmawr for 30 minutes, until the defence was breached with a try in the corner.

On the stroke of half time Brynmawr were harshly awarded a penalty try to make the half time score 17-3 to Brynmawr.

The seconded half started with Brynmawr attacking and Dowlais constantly defending.

Then in the space of 10 minutes Dowlais lost three of their players through injury, James Howe, John Davies and Chad Powell.

After this unfortunate episode there was no way back for Dowlais and Brynmawr just ran in the tries , and to compound their problems Luke Palmer was red carded, the rest is best forgotten.

Dowlais need to improve their game management and to cut down on their penalty count, which lets their opponents off the hook time and time again.
