What a game played in glorious spring sunshine a feast of tries 11 in all, a game which was a credit  to both teams and a great advert for community rugby when there is no money involved.

Dowlais raced into a 17 point lead with three excellent tries, the  first by Nathan Pritchard after a break by Morgan Thomas who threw an outrageous dummy to put Pritchard in under the sticks which he converted.

Two tries quickly followed by Morgan Powell  and Ben Thomas neither converted.

 

Brecon awoke from their slumbers in great fashion with three easy tries after some timid Dowlais tackling to make the halftime score  21-17 to the home side.

Brecon continued the second half in the same fashion they ended the first with another too easy tries to make the score 35-17 to the hosts.

That seemed it but Dowlais are made of sterner stuff these days and with the introduction of James Cross for his first game for 2 years and to join his Captain  James Chamberlin and John Sutton in the front row started to wok the Brecon front row and camp on their 5 meter line, resulted in tries from Luke Price, Darryl Jenkins and Kristian Owen which he converted to make the final score 35-34 to Brecon. It was 5 tries to Brecon and 6  to Dowlais ,, a kicker would have won the game for Dowlais  , but what a fight back.

It is difficult to pick out individual players because they all played their part but a mention must be made of the performance by  Scrum half Ceri Morgan who travels down each weekend from London to play for Dowlais and to put in a display like that , thanks Ceri..The back row of Luke Evans ,Luke Price  and Luke Dudley who normally plays on the wing were excellent.

The back row were all named Luke , i think that is a first for Dowlais.
