An uneventful but nonetheless victorious game for Dowlais this week as they defeat Monmouth with a 10-0 win at home.

The first half was a frustrating affair for both sides, with both sides unable to put any points on the board for the majority of the half, with Dowlais in particular missing multiple chances for tries in the opening minutes due to handling errors. After a first half played mostly between both twenty-two’s, Dowlais finally brought some life to the score board with a penalty kicked by Cameron Trowbridge near the end of the half.

The second half continued in much the same way, with Dowlais unable to extend their lead and Monmouth unable to get their points and both sides missing any penalties and chances for tries that came to them. Dowlais’ continued efforts finally bore fruit with a try touched down by Luke Price and converted by Cameron Trowbridge earning the final points of the game and taking the losing bonus point from Monmouth.

Despite Dowlais showing a strong defense, their attacking prowess and their inability to capitalize on the countless opportunities given to them left much to be desired. Simple handling errors were abundant throughout as well, sloppy kicking pointlessly giving the ball away to Monmouth and a general feeling of drowsiness in the early minutes contributed to Dowlais making what could have been an easy victory and bonus point much more difficult than it had to be and a bit of a slog in some places.
