RISCA 58 pts. DOWLAIS 21pts.

 

The least said about this result the better, although Dowlais were missing several first team regulars, there can be no excuse for such an inept performance, all be it against a very good Risca side. A 9 try haul and the freedom of their Stores Field given to Risca must have even surprised them, given the league position of both clubs prior to kick off.

Dowlais took the lead with a Steve James penalty and that is as good as it got for the visitors, the home team then went into a 21 -3 lead very quickly,two penalties and a length of the field try by Tom Griffin just before the break put Dowlais just a score behind, but from the kick off Dowlais failed to control the ball and allowed Risca to go in 29-16 to the good. The second half saw Risca score a further  5 tries and just one reply from Dowlais by wing Daniel Butler and another penalty from Steve James.

The inquest will probably go on at this weeks training sessions, and it is needed before Saturdays away game at Blaenavon.
