I'm afraid there isn't much to report this week for Dowlais as their new season just gets worse and worse. After being bested by Brynmawr last week, things were at least looking better than they did last week for the Dowlais team. Even after conceding an early try, Dowlais strode to the Brecon 22 numerous times, with each attempt seeming like it would give Dowlais a try. But a combination of held-up mauls and poor decision making when it came to the timing and execution of kicks near the line denied Dowlais the 5 points every time.

Just when things still looked up, Brecon burst to life in the final 10 minutes, netting themselves a penalty and converted try, leaving Dowlais in a less than ideal position of 15-0 going into the second half. Things quickly spiralled out of control even more as the second half began as Brecon shot ahead with try after try, cornering Dowlais in their own 22 for the majority of the second half. Add on a yellow card for James Quirke and another try for Brecon and the game soon reached a definitely unresolvable point.

Still determined to at least repeat their last-minute try from Brynmawr, Dowlais made it into the Brecon 22 with possession for the first time in the second half. But despite the valiant attempt to at least salvage something from this game, a knock-on on the try line took even that away from them.

With a bonus point, five tries, a penalty and 4 conversions under their belts, Brecon leave the Dowlais boys to go back to the drawing board once again as they try to get themselves in gear for the future trials ahead.
