Dowlais' 2017-2018 season fails to get any better after last weeks narrow, last minute defeat to Ynysybwl after suffering a 26-15 defeat to Brynmawr on Saturday.
The match started promisingly for Dowlais thanks to a try from James Woods and a penalty from Lloyd Hynes giving the team an 8-7 early lead. But a combination of missed tries, penalties and a conversion cost Dowlais precious points before ending the first half with Brynmawr leading by 4 points.
The second half began slowly with Brynmawr chipping away at Dowlais. A possible second try from James Woods was disallowed. Two more tries were added by Brynmawr.
Although, certainly trying their hardest, Dowlais missed more opportunities before scoring a last minute try courtesy of Sam Davies and a conversion from Lloyd Hynes at least let the
Dowlais boys end the game on a good note.
With a score of 26-15 to Brynmawr, breaking down to two tries, one penalty and one conversion to Dowlais and 4 tries and 3 conversions to Brynmawr, the Dowlais boys once again must go back to the drawing board to get the new season off to a proper start.
