KNIGHTS CONQUER UNBEATEN WARRIORS

In a re-arranged REGRU League fixture the Knights hosted a strong looking Bargoed Warriors RFC at Klondyke.

Any thoughts that this would be another walk in the park for the Warriors were soon diminished as The Knights laid siege to the visitors line.

The Knights soon went ahead with a Sion Martin penalty but kept the pressure on the Warriors with some fierce and committed rugby and tries soon followed for Kane Evans and Connor Cullen. Both converted by Sion Martin who also added a further penalty to put the Knights deservedly up 20-0.

Once the shell-shocked Warrors stopped complaining to the referee they produced some decent rugby as expected and seemed to have reversed their first half fortunes as they brought the game back to 20-19 and it seemed that the writing was on the wall for the valiant Knights.

Knights commander Owain Woodward led from the front all evening, with a heroic performance, was able to galvanise his men to put a halt to the Warriors repost and 2 further penalties from Sion Martin, who also controlled the game masterfully, regained the Knights a 7 point advantage which despite their best efforts the Warriors were unable to overcome.

All in all this was a terrific perfromance from The Knights with some very committed performnces across the park which begs the question what this side could achieve if they could train together.

And finally it is rumoured that DRFC stalwart Kris Cleaver is to hang up his boots. If this is true then what a performance to sign off with and we wish him the very best for the future from all at DRFC.
